Blind Sweet Terrier Mix Needs Rescue From High Kill Shelter-RESCUED!

Terrier Mix

RESCUED! Thanks All!!

I normally only network cats out of Carson Shelter, but the volunteers called me on Saturday and again today on this 4 month old terrier mix below to see if I could help network it and get it out of Carson Shelter.  It came in as a stray on 1/28 and apparently it may be blind.  The volunteers fell in love with him on Saturday and are extremely worried about him.  They say that there is no one networking this dog and no holds on it and they really want him to be adopted.

He is as sweet as pie and comes running to you when you call his name

Carson has just gotten rid of 50 dog cages, did a huge mass killing of cats last week and the volunteers are just very concerned about getting this sweet young terrier mix out of there as soon as possible.

CONTACT ME, Cyndi, IF YOU CAN HELP (cdzacko@gmail.com or 310-721-5802) or

Need Funding To Help With Foxy’s Surgery

Foxy is doing very well since her surgery.  She plays and gets along with the other dogs and cats.  She is still having trouble with controlling her bladder so mistakes are common but will get better with time.  Since being pulled  from the shelter on the 5th of January, she has settled in quite nicely, sunning herself in front of the patio doors every afternoon.  This little dog was hours away from being euthanized at one of the highest kill shelters in Los Angeles.  You can read her bio here: http://lifesapet.com/2010/01/13/small-sweet-chihuahua-available-at-carson-ac-ida4072298/

Now we urgently need help with funding to help pay for her bladder surgery which has cost over $1700.00.  Could you please help us so we can continue to help more animals? Any amount is appreciated.  You can donate with a credit card here:

LOVING Staffie needs MIRACLE “Luna” 9-mos, Spayed A1075603 East Valley

LunaGirlEV_A1033340

Luna Girl at E Valley

This is going to take a miracle, but maybe, just maybe the stars will align for Luna A1075603.  She’s a super-loving, all-around amazing girl.  Her owners adopted her from East as a small puppy and took her back because developed juvenile onset demodectic mange.  This form is not considered contagious.  When I visited her she just wanted me to pet her and to stay with her.  She never stopped wagging her tail.   She’s still a puppy just 9-mos-old, spayed.  The chances of a black staffie (does have white on her chest & neck) getting out of East alive are slim.  Please network her.

Pet Stores: Avoid Them For Puppies and Kittens

Puppies In A Pet Shop

Puppies In A Pet Shop

When most people decide to adopt a puppy or kitten into their family, the first thing they do is march on down to the local pet store to find their new friend. This is done because it is a convenient location to not only pick up the puppy or kitten question, but also all the food and accessories that will also be required. The second reason for the choice of the pet store is that most people have a lot of warm, happy memories of pet stores from their own childhoods. Still, even though most pet store owners care very much about the animals in their care, the pet store environment has many disadvantages when it comes to adopting puppies and kittens.

The same problems that apply to small pet stores that serve small communities are also true when it comes to pet care superstores. It all comes down to the fact that despite everything, they are still retail establishments, and retail establishments are dependent on consistent sales in order to be successful. When it comes to pet stores, the sales that they are dependent on are the sales of pets. Whether the staff of the store cares for the animals in their store or not, and most of the time they do, the puppies and kittens must still be displayed in such a manner as to encourage as many sales as possible.

This is done primarily by getting the customer to want very much to take the puppy or kitten out of the cage and take it home. The way that pet stores get people to want to free the animals is to induce as much sympathy as possible, and that sympathy is encouraged by placing the puppies and kittens in small cages or bins that are quite confining and make the animals appear to be unhappy, whether they actually are or not. This presentation makes people feel sympathy for the animals and want to release them.

Keeping many animals in a small area comes with its own problems, mostly associated with the health of the animals. Diseases are normally very easily transmitted between young animals, but it becomes even moreso when they are all confined to a small space and are left in constant contact with each other. Most of the time, an animal will be quarantined at the first sign of illness, but by that time, all the others will have also been exposed.

Finding quality sources of newborn kittens can be difficult, but it is never impossible. Kitten rescue societies and animal shelters are filled with a great number of animals just waiting to be adopted into a loving family.

Precious Little Girl Needs Out Of E. Valley Shelter ASAP

Please Rescue This Little Girl!

UPDATE 11/10 This little girl is still there! She is in ISO where no one can see her.  She just finished her medicine for URI.  The kennel worker told me she is a very sweet dog and scared in there.  Please someone help her.  I can transport on the weekend and possibly during the week after work.  Tammy Hilo (626) 437-5666

My name is Kelly and I am an unaltered female, black Terrier mix.
The shelter thinks I am about 1 year and 1 month old.
I have been at the shelter since Oct 28, 2009.

Someone spoke to a kennel worker about her today.   She said there were no temperament problems.  They asked her to personally check her out herself and she did.  She came back to the phone all happy and said, “She’s a real sweetie!”  She said she held her, checked her teeth, and checked how she acts.  She said she’s a real sweet dog.  She asked if someone could get her out.  They told her they would network and hopefully someone would rescue her. Please someone help her!  She is at
